About me

In September 2011 I had the shock of my life when I won a ballot place for the 2012 London Marathon. Being a little over 50 and having never run before I set about turning myself into a 'runner'. It wasn't quite as much fun as I had anticipated and fitting in the training with work, family and life in general was difficult especially at the speed I go!. Long runs on a Sunday morning soon took over the entire day with recovery reaching well into the evening.

I did manage to 'complete' the Marathon - albeit, a little more slowly than even I had hoped. I did it for a very special reason and you can go right back to the beginning, to my blog entitled 'to this point' where I have explained who I did it for and why. I managed to raise around £1450.00 for the charity which I am very proud of and will always be immensely grateful to everyone who gave money, time and kind words to get me to the finish line.

This year I had a place with my daughter Madi to run the marathon for Shelter. Unfortunately things haven't gone quite according to plan and we have had to pull out. I haven't given up on my dream of running the whole of the London Marathon in a reasonable time, I will crack it one day and I hope it will be alongside Madi.

In the meantime I have been lucky enough to get a ballot place in the Great North Run half marathon. I think for me, this year it will be a more sensible distance.

Any money I do raise will go to The Association for International Cancer Research and I am, as we speak working on publishing my first book with all the profit going to AICR. I will let you know as soon as it is available. In the meantime you can sponsor me at:

Thank you again to everyone who has supported me so far, it really means so much, I hope you continue to stay with me.
